Merry christmas! While out visiting family today i came across some old lures at the wifes great aunts house, we got to talking about them and before i left she told me that i could take them along and make them look good in my collection. I know what all but one are and i was hoping someone could help me identify it. Thanks for any help!

There is some confusing history about the company name and the location. I assume it changed a little a couple of times. The Weedsplitter can be found in Russell E. Lewis's Modern Fishing Lure Collectibles - vol. 4 on page 275, and in Dudley and Deanie Murphy's Fishing Lure Collectibles - The Modern Era - vol. 2 on page 201. I also find them interesting as you may see in the photo.

I hopes this info helps.

Hi Ryan,

Joe and Bill are right, it is called a "Weedsplitter" lure. I'd like to add that it was made by the "Weedless Bait Company" in Aitkin, MN. This company was also the maker of the weedless "Fish Trap" spoons. I personally like the unique double weedless hooks, but I question how much of a pain they are while fishing.

Hi Ryan, and Merry Christmas to you. Taking a break from the crowd and holiday cheer going on here! I think that's a "Weed-Splitter Plug",
made somewhere in Ohio, 1940's. I really like those double weedless hooks! Maybe made it "fish-less" too? Nice bait. Best--- Joe W
